Locks: soft vs hard
In this help doc
Choose how strict your focus is — from a gentle nudge to an unbypassable lock 🔒
A lock decides how hard it is to stop a focus session early. Microsome offers two, so you can match the strictness to how much you trust yourself in the moment.
Soft-locks
A soft-lock is an easy on/off. Focus is enforced, but you can end the session yourself whenever you choose. Best for everyday focus where a gentle barrier is enough.
Hard-locks
A hard-lock can't be turned off until the timer runs out — Microsome holds the breakout, not you. Best for deep work or deadlines where you want the decision taken out of your hands. Available on the Sigma tier.
Choosing the right lock
Start with soft-locks while you build the habit. Reach for a hard-lock when the temptation is strong and the stakes are high — it removes just five minutes as an option.
If you get stuck
Hard-locks are meant to hold, but if something genuinely urgent comes up, reach out and we'll help — help@microsome.ai.
